Jared,

Since you and Jon had already met Srinivas's needs with the examples you two
provided, I didn't see much sense in throwing in my two cents except that
since Srinivas was *so* close with his approach, I thought it would be
helpful to show the key piece he was missing. And I would bet the ranch that
you and Jon have used the same technique multiple times in the past as well.

Considering there is no performance difference with all 3 returning results
instantaneously, I might lean towards your approach -- the clarity and
purpose of the code is more obvious. Some folks get a glazed look in their
eyes when they see aggregate/decodes and or in-line views, and that always
needs to be taken into account.
