Also, to monitor Disk IO on NT / W2K you need to have the disk counters turned on.
To check if they are on, use the "diskperf" program, which can check a remote computer. To turn them on if they are currently off, use diskperf to turn on but they won't come on until the server is rebooted. Note that under NT / W2K, installing the SNMP service will add in a lot more performance counters. Plus, there's a Perl interface to the perflib.dll that enables you to collect the data anyway you want. It can also be done remotely. Performance monitoring is one place the M$ didn't skimp. Jared ------------- 10/04/01 01:56 PM UNIX: man iostat while you're there, checkout: man vmstat Windoze 2000: I think they have something called "Performance Monitor" in 2000. From what I hear, it isn't helpful. I think they are trying to resolve the constant system crashes before they concentrate on "small" things, such as disk I/O. ;) Regards, Satar --- Seema Singh <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi > How to monitor disk IO on Unix AND Win2000 platform? > Thanks > -Seema -- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com -- Author: Reardon, Bruce (CALBBAY) INET: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fat City Network Services -- (858) 538-5051 FAX: (858) 538-5051 San Diego, California -- Public Internet access / Mailing Lists -------------------------------------------------------------------- To REMOVE yourself from this mailing list, send an E-Mail message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (note EXACT spelling of 'ListGuru') and in the message BODY, include a line containing: UNSUB ORACLE-L (or the name of mailing list you want to be removed from).
