Yes, you may indeed have a problem. You say you backed up the datafiles. Did you get the redo logs and controlfile? How did your DB go down? Did it crash, or were you able to shut it down? If you're not in archivelog mode, are the redo logs that were current at the time of the most recent backup available?

Hi list
I have a database recovery problem.
The scenario is like this
a) My database is not in archive mode.
b) I have taken a cold back up on two different times. 6 data files in
the morning and 6 in the evening. In between the database was started
and again
Was shutdown before taking back up in the evening.
I want to recover the database completely but I don't mind losing the
data of the period between the back ups.
Can any one have solution.
