If the database was shutdown cleanly, the online logs
are not required or desired.

If the database was not shutdown cleanly, you will not
be able to open the database without them.

Nagaraj,

Yes, you may indeed have a problem. You say you backed up the datafiles.
Did you get the redo logs and controlfile? How did your DB go down? Did
it crash, or were you able to shut it down? If you're not in archivelog
mode, are the redo logs that were current at the time of the most recent
backup available?

Hi list

I have a database recovery problem.

The scenario is like this

a) My database is not in archive mode.
b) I have taken a cold back up on two different times. 6 data files in
the morning and 6 in the evening. In between the database was started
and again
Was shutdown before taking back up in the evening.

I want to recover the database completely but I don't mind losing the
data of the period between the back ups.

Can any one have solution.

Thanks in advance

NAGARAJ
