What about blocking locks
use utllockt to show a "graphical" output of the waiters building up
And you get to show the fun of alter system kill session to get rid of the
blockers !
And get a demo of spotlight and show how much data goes back and forth or in
the database for 2 different queries that bring back the same answer
ie demonstrate efficient SQL

What about some simple SQL statements? That might be fun. Especially if
you create a table "family" and enter in names, birthdates, etc.

Our office is doing 'Take your child to work' day and the plan is for an
older child to shadow me for a little while as we do some simple Oracle dba
or development work.
I'd really like to make this meaningful by having the child do a task that's
simpler (than optimizing all our procedures) but realistic (instead of being
relegated to the lunchroom to watch tv) with me for an hour or so.
Has anyone ever done this? I'd appreciate any lessons learned or
suggestions.
