Tom, this is for OPS. Not using IFILE means duplicating a lot of
parameters
for each instance.

throw away the IFILE thingy. it is not worth the trouble!
create instance specific init.ora files.
solves your problem.

Greetings elitist *nix bigots,
I'm starting to upgrade our OPS databases on OpenVMS from 7.3 to 8.1.7.3
and
I've run into a problem with the IFILE parameter in the node specific init
file.
It appears Oracle is not reading the generic init.ora specified in the
IFILE
parameter in the node specific init file. Only parameters defined in the
node specific init file are effective.
Has anyone "been there, done that"?
