Hey Ron, We had the same problem with having to run catrep after a patch (and then the .4 minipack) in 8.1.7 on HP. We really didn't *have* to run it, but it would have left dozens of invalid SYS objects, so I chose to incur the slight storage overhead of just running it.

Full export failed looking for the references created but the initial run of catproc.(sys.dbsm_repcat_rgt_exp) The problem was fixed by running the catalog and carrepc. The upgrade info for upgrading from 8.1.7 to 8.1.7.4 now state that you have to run the catalog and catrep. even if you do not use replication.
