Just do

Select to_date(date2)-to_date(date1) from dual;

exemple:

 

SQL> select to_date('16/02/2003')-to_date('12/02/2003')  from dual;

 

TO_DATE('16/02/2003')-TO_DATE('12/02/2003')
-------------------------------------------
                                          4
