Binley - Yes, I probably didn't phrase that too well. My understanding is that when you create an index on a table, Oracle has to scan the table at least once, then write to the index. My point was that if both the table and the index are on the NetApp, your performance might be lower. Thanks for the tips you posted on the network configuration changes you may want to make to increase performance. It was a couple of years ago when we acquired the NetApp, and if we had the advice you provided it may have made a better impression. I doubt if gigabit was available back then anyway.
