I would suggest to read the documentation. You changed the original question now you want to see something else.

SQL> INSERT INTO test_table VALUES(3, NULL);
1 row created.
SQL> INSERT INTO test_table VALUES(4, EMPTY_CLOB());
1 row created.
SQL> COMMIT;
1 SELECT id, testcolu 2 FROM test_table 3 WHERE dbms_lob.getlength(testcolu) = 0 4* OR (dbms_lob.getlength(testcolu) = 1 AND dbms_lob.instr(testcolu, ' ') = 1) SQL> /
ID TESTCOLU
--------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to findout those columns which are updated thru empty_clob() functions or those columns which are showing NULL during select but those columns were updated either thru EMPTY_CLOB() or ' '.?
