Mladen, I'm surprised at you. You didn't mention that using SPFILE makes it possible to put your database in a state that will prevent it from being started.
ie. alter system set shared_pool=1024m scope spfile; I doubt many systems could handle that. Kirti and others convinced me to abandon spfile for now.
