Overall Purpose: Responsible for database support from development
environments through Production for 3 mission-critical eCommerce buyflows
and 12 additional Production applications.
Key support for site performance, high-availability, reliability,
recoverability, and the installation, maintenance, upgrade and security
patching of database software.

*Roles and Responsibilities:*

Responsible for providing database support, troubleshooting, analysis and
monthly performance metrics for Oracle databases on several different
versions.
Deep familiarity with 3-tier eCommerce systems, RMAN, Veritas clustering,
bi-directional streams, 11g reporting physical standbys, disaster recovery,
standardization, best-practices, and usage of third party software.
Familiarity with Oracle Database Appliances, Oracle dbms capture and
replay, advanced replication, memory management and 12c pluggable databases
a plus.
Support responsibilities include those related to availability,
performance, currency, integrity, security, and confidentiality of the
database instances, database backups and recoveries, database disaster
recovery, database growth and disk space utilization, database problem
analysis and resolution, configuration files, operating system account and
system level schemas, tablespaces, database patches, database upgrades,
database compatibilities, database bugs and workarounds, database vendor
support process, Oracle SR creation, escalation and resolution.
Excellent written skills for documentation of applications, processes and
database jobs also desired.
Ability to juggle tasks and priorities in a demanding, volatile environment
including fielding questions about SQL tuning and object management,
automation, project implementation and physical design and installation of
database environments and databases.
Must have strong critical reasoning skills and the ability to be
self-directed.
