We are looking for a senior application developer with deep technical skills, mature analytical awareness, and the desire to be the technical go-to expert in the technical project team. Performs as technical lead on software development projects, documents design decisions, adheres to existing process guidelines, develops software components, mentors developers, supports QA during testing, and has oversight during implementation into production. Job Purpose/ Description: Develops using the J2EE platform; also required are OOP paradigm skills, as well as experience with J2EE APIs, protocols and development of multi tiered applications. Examples of current J2EE application program interfaces (APIs) are EJB, JDBC, JMS, JNDI, JTA, etc. Leads complex / major efforts regarding the requirements analysis, design, development, and testing of computer programs and / or application components. Strong ability to analyze functional needs that drive the analysis and technical design of quality technical solutions; recommends solutions that are aligned with business / IT strategies and complies with corporate architectural standards. Serves as subject matter expert (SME) in assigned area. Resolves complex application and technical problems. May serve as departmental liaison to interdepartmental or interdivisional project initiatives. Analyzes complex performance and capacity issues with systems / applications software and/or application components. Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies. Provides mentoring and training to more junior staff. Handles complex operational tasks and recommends processing and technology changes. Leads evaluations of systems / applications software technologies. May lead project teams. Strong ability to work collaboratively with IT staff on development, troubleshooting, and other technical efforts. Performs software architecture and systems design. Tasks and Responsibilities: Strong knowledge of programming / systems analysis, as well as quality assurance, prototyping, construction, integration, and migration functions; possesses a strong understanding of programming languages, development tools, and the current environment. Displays problem solving and analytical skills, using them to resolve technical problems; possesses a strong understanding of business requirements and IT strategies. Draws on broad knowledge base (e.g., infrastructure, technology, and applications) to analyze complex problems and contribute to troubleshooting efforts. Leverages strong design understanding and/or capabilities (e.g., database, application code, reusable objects, and interfaces) to optimize development efforts in a distributed environment. Good understanding of development technology used to support one or more business operations areas. May be required to coordinate small numbers of junior staff in the execution of projects Responds to direct questions from IT Management or the business on the effects of emerging technologies on product development and business directions; may provide buy vs. build recommendations or assist in platform determination. Required education/experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. 6 to 10 years of IT work experience in systems programming / analysis Typically experienced across two Information Technology areas or in a single system / applications software development technology across multiple computing platforms. Practical experience of project management disciplines. Required Skills: Must have excellent technical experience with front-end Java Development on WebLogic Portals. 6-8 Years experience in J2EE enterprise application development 6-8 Years general web application development experience (HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, etc.) 6-8 Years experience as a Senior Developer on IT Projects 4-6 Years experience on the WebLogic Portal platform (10.x experience desirable)Workshop, JPFs, UUP, etc. Knowledge of SOA patterns and Best Practices Experience with Web Services, with a basic understanding of Web Services Remote Portlets (WSRP) Knowledge of Junit and component testing patterns Knowledge of Version Control System and its use with BEA Workshop IDE Knowledge of Apache ANT tool and its usage in building Workshop components Preferred Skills: Extensive experience with web services deployment and utilization (SOAP, XML, WSDL, etc.). Strong trouble-shooting, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge and awareness of Oracle: Siebel, Single-Sign-On. Knowledge of Insurance Domain.
