*SQL Server DBA*
Duration: 6 month contract

Certificate(s): Microsoft Certified Database Administrator - Preferred
Experience Required: 8-12 years

The position will have responsibility and technical ownership of multiple
SQL Server database environments. Responsible for accepting and approving
the database design, participating and agreeing on database management
system acquisitions, performing or checking sizing results, acquiring
requisite system software and system/storage devices, performing data
change control, installing upgrading database software, implementing
production/test and staging databases. Typically maintains a dictionary or
repository. Assists operations staff in the setup of the required
operations environment for running the system. Will assist in the provision
of agreed service levels to the user /business, monitoring the system
(deriving statistics for usage, performance, problems, utilization, etc).
Ensures integrity of data in the database as per defined database
constraints and helps to maintain and define such constraints with active
participation from development groups. Implements disaster recovery
procedures and solutions. Administers and implements security integrity
controls. Maintains, follows and adheres to policies, procedures and
standards relating to database management.

*Principal Duties and Responsibilities: *
Responsible for DBA responsibilities of the assigned SQL Server database
system. Perform environment builds and refreshes
Consistently performs event management by acting on alerts and
notifications, and following pre-defined operational fixes
Perform security management by auditing and maintaining roles, privileges,
and user profiles.
Develops, upgrades, and maintains medium to large size database systems
May have responsibility for administering several complex aspects in a
developmental project..
Maintains database objects, dictionaries. Maintains lists, control tables
(and records) and uses pre-defined coding schemes necessary to process data
with active help from development/user groups and senior database
administrators and modifies this documentation. Conducts data validation
checks using a pre-defined methodology.
Analyzes issues and uses judgment to make decisions. Works on non-standard
problems or issues and creates and documents solutions

*Skills: *
Extensive hands on experience in administering SQL Server 2000 / 2005 /
2008 databases.
Working experience with all of the following (should be expert in at least
three): Database Security, Instance Management, Schema Maintenance, Data
Control, Backup & Recovery, Disaster planning & testing, Capacity Planning,
Clustering and Replication, Performance and Tuning.
Demonstrated communication skills. Ability to present in group setting.
Could consult and provide feedback to the Team or Project Leader
Windows 2000/2003/2008 Enterprise Edition experience strongly preferred
Aware of the business and future direction
