Indeed it is rather linearizing HTML tables, sorry for the shortcut and also if I am too verbose below. When the page is simply said line after line, this is OK for a full plain text, but confusing with a more elaborated layout. For example, with a two columns layout, the voice could say the first line of the first column, and then the first line of the second column. If this layout is built using a HTML table, one solution sometimes is to simply forget the table and considered each cell as a paragraph. The wish is to start from the 2D graphical layout and retrieve the single dimension of the speech flow. As retrieving the whole story in a logical order from a complex 2D layout is quite much more difficult or even impossible, the web designers and their clients are invited to be aware of the Web Accessibility. In the future, to retrieve a more logical flow of speech from an HTML labyrinthic layout, or a complex scanned page, we could also based hope upon 2D layout analysis, already helpful for scanned articles in some libraries; there are still researches in this area.
