Hi Doug, In my sighted days, when I used to use MSDOS (Windows had just appeared) I used to use an editor called Norton Editor, the executable for this was ne.com. I wonder if this is what you are talking about.
Actually, I have rather pleasant memories of ne. I would type portions of a LaTex file, go to the norton shell, compile it , open a previewer and check out what I had done. I have no recollection of the commands except that the function keys were used a lot. I certainly would not even thing of changing from Emacs(peak) now! Cheers.
