Not sure if they will be helpful, but there are two schemas in orbeon.jar:
xmldb-processor-datasource.rng xmldb-processor-query.rng

The XML:DB processors are actually not yet documented (shame!). But
look at the BizDoc sample: it features a full-fledged backend using those processors to access eXist.
