I don't think this is a Studio problem. If Presentation Server sends the information to Studio, you will see it in Logging Events view. As you don't see it there, it most probably means that it wasn't sent by Presentation Server. Now we have to figure out why.
When you have a debug on an input and that validation occurs for this input, the "debug" is executed before the "validation". This means that you should be able to see the document in the Logging Events view, even if an exception is thrown during validation. (I just created a test case to confirm that this is working as expected.)
So I am not sure why you observe a different behavior with your application. Unfortunately, I can't give you a better answer without being able to reproduce the problem here.
