Thanks for sending the resources. That helps.
The problem: in your action (wstest.xpl), you have declared an output you named "response". The output of the action must be called "data". Since your output has a different name, it is not read by the page flow controller and so nothing in your action gets executed. Try to rename it and you'll see that the Web service is called. Then you will have to solve a few issues in webservice.xpl, but I'll let you have a look at this.
