But why? Sure it can be done but why should it? Can anyone honestly say that 
Orchard on Mono will really have any significant user base? Its what I would 
consider a fringe request at best. In fact I'd go as far as to say this 
discussion alone is more interested in it than any other real-world numbers. I 
think the team has done a fairly solid job of keeping the scope-drift in check, 
let's non inundate them at the end with the "oh, would it be cool if....." type 
stuff. It's what ends up killing most open source projects, let's not bury this 
thing with "extras", that's what the community can do when its actually 
released.

I think that Mono compatibility is pretty easy to achieve since asp.net mvc
works on Mono, MEF works on Mono and I think also NH works on Mono.
And Mono is already .NET4 compatible
