Ok, I do not have numbers to back this up, but if you compare the advertising
revenue brought in by other full colour magazines such as Sports Illustrated
(Nike, Gatorade, Adidas, etc.) or Rolling Stone (Coke products, etc) with the
advertising revenue brought in by ORCHIDS, I think that you would find a large
gap. A full colour magazine takes incredible expense to print, especially
when it is produced in smaller numbers. That is my logical guess and is the
reason why I am not unhappy with this increase. I am glad that I do not have
to see a Pepsi ad in my ORCHIDS magazine.
I guess that it just comes down to the choices that you make. I am a
horticulture instructor who makes less than 20k a year, but I choose to spend
my money on ORCHIDS because it is my hobby and my passion. Try going to
Barnes and Noble and checking out some of the ad industry mags and
international reviews at close to 10$ a pop- that's when I come to the
conclusion that ORCHIDS is a bargain.
