They will eat the roots but that is probably not what is eating your flowers. Look for thrips or slugs. The only thing that will reliably kill bush snails is Mesurol. I don't know if it is sold in Australia. Ask in your nearest garden center or get hold of a certified pesticide applicator. Iris
