There are two large ansellia specimans growing at the university that sit right next to each other on the bench, so it is safe to assume that their culture is nearly identical. The cultivar with the washed-out yellow flowers tops out at 5 or 6 feet and is surrounded by a dense, tangled 'trash basket.' Really, you can't even see the pot that it is growing in. The other cultivar with deep orange blotched flowers only acheives about 3 feet and is just as mature, but the catch roots are noticeably much sparser, just a few tendrils poking above the surface of the pot. They both bloom enthusiastically in season.
