Dear Viateur: I'm currently writing my last book on Venezuelan Cattleyas which will be called: "Traveling for the Venezuelan Cattleyas". Its true, in many references is easy to find the error. When I say error is because from geographical point of view would be difficult to find this specie in Colombia. I live in the border with this country and it is also easy to hear Cattleya percivaliana is growing ic Colombia. Just the same thing is with C. mendelli. These species only occurs as follow: 1. Cattleya gaskelliana: In State of Monagas and part of Sucre. Venezuela.North- east of Venezuela 2. Cattleya percivaliana: Occur only in state of Mérida and Trujillo- Venezuela- South west if Venezuela 3. Cattleya mendelli: Departament of Santander. Colombia.South East of Colombia This matter have been cleary studied and I'm 100 % sure it is just like this. So, there is a large geographical sepparation to get this conclussion and nobody else have found in jungle any holotype of them. Saludos desde Venezuela;
