I use a bark mix as my primary growing media. I use moss where I need more
water retention. It has been a problem media to figure out how to use
right. NZ Sphag moss works really well, when used right. In my situation if
I compact or compress the moss into the pot, it is the kiss of death. I wet
it prior to use, work with it wet & I put it loosely into the pot. If I do
that ir works really well of may genera of plants. There is no consistient
response that would suggest pH is a problem. It is a great media, once you
get the "right touch" that leaves it loose enough to breath in your potting
situation.
