Bernard, I wait until the pot is virtually bone dry, and then place it in a sealed plastic bag. The bag then goes on top of a bookshelf for about four months. By removing the pot from the greenhouse, I can prevent accidental watering, and the plastic bag prevents over-dessication. Towards the end of the dormant period, I put the pot back in the greenhouse and keep it slightly damp until new growth appears.
When I am ready to repot or divide a plant, I remove it from the pot at the beginning of the dormant period and store the tubers in a bag without soil. That way it is even easier to monitor when new growth has started. The same treatment works well with H. erichmichaelii, H. carnea, Pecteilis sagarikii, and Pterostylis curta. As an added bonus, the Pterostylis and Habenarias can inhabit the same greenhouse space during different seasons Nick -- Nicholas Plummer [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ the OrchidGuide Digest (OGD) [email protected] http://orchidguide.com/mailman/listinfo/orchids_orchidguide.com
