While I agree that in general glass is less efficient than polycarb, my 
Florian greenhouse seems to do quite well with it's double pane/air gap 
design.   Last year, in our coldest month, the natural gas heating bill 
was right around $100 for my 18 x 11 with it's two Southern Burners.  
Not bad for Michigan.  This year, I'm sure it will be much worse, so I 
am dialing down in my house.  Better that I am cool than my plants.

The reason I went with glass is that I live in a city, in a historical 
district, and my neighbor's door is less than 20 feet away from my 
greenhouse - it has to look as good as it possibly can.
