I am new to the list. My friend and fellow
traveller, Sandy from coastal Georgia invited me to join in.
Well, my thumb did not turn green until I was 40.
First it was roses. Then...in 98 I was
seduced by a Phal with 25 white blooms at a grocery store. 'She' hung around the
house for 2 months. I now have approx. 500 various orchids in a 1000 sq.
ft. greenhouse and I use two 250 sq. ft. canopies during the summer. I
prefer fragrant orchids. Favorites are Catts, Vandas, Ascocendas, Zygos and
more recently Odontoglossums. I travelled twice in 2005 to Ecuagenra
in Ecuador with The Boyetts from Atlanta. We are now trying to fill the seats of
a 16 person tour to Thailand in Feb, next month!. I'll send a separate email
about that. I have recently acquired a laminar flow table and look forward to
flasking a collection of 60 mostly specie seed pods. 2005 was a
year that I stepped into orchids with both feet. It's an amazing group of
plants that draws me deeper every day. I have a large appetite for anything
orchid. I look forward to sharing and learning from your knowledge and
experience.
