I saw the announcement on the Orchid Source Forum that Mary Noble McQuerry passed away yesterday at the age of 88 in her home in Jacksonville. Mary was an active member of the AOS for years and grew orchids for over 60 years. She had an orchid book business where you could find many out of print orchid books, AOS bulletins back issues, Orchid Digest back issues, and a bunch of other rarities. She also founded the Jacksonville Orchid Society.
I had just ordered the 1979 AOS Bulletin volume from her a couple months ago. She answered all of my e-mail queries very quickly. It's amazing to think that an 88 year old was able to keep up with the times by having an internet site and coresponding via e-mail. Also amazing was to see McQuerry Orchid Book advertisements in the AOS bulletins from the 60's and 70's and know that she was still doing it all the way up to 2006.
