Dear All The use of Hydrogen Peroxide is something that is not uncommon in modern horticultural practice. There are greenhouse operations that use injector systems to add it to irrigation and fertigation water sources to help with the prevention of bacterial and fungal diseases. There is even a product on the market at the moment called Zerotol that is a solution of highly reactive hydrogen dioxide and Peroxycetic Acid that is very effective for sterilization of surfaces and disease prevention in plants. It is very soft on the environment breaking down into water and oxygen very quickly. Zerotol is not currently available to the home owner and caution must still be used when applying it because in its undiluted form it is very caustic.
