As a frustrated ex-member of the AOS I have been following the recent comments
with considerable interest, and I strongly endorse the notion that we should
all be making specific recommendations for changes we would like to see. The
questionnaire is a great opportunity for all of us.

I am surprised at the lack of comments in this forum on the announcement in the
Nov. 2006 issue (pg. 803) that the AOS would be endorsing specific products and
suppliers. This strikes me as totally unacceptable, something akin to the
American Medical Association endorsing some of the products of a particular
pharmaceutical company. I realize the AOS needs money, but I cannot see how
this policy can benefit the members, either private or commercial.

I would welcome reactions from others.
