"A rare orchid [it must have a name / smile...] that has not been seen for 
30 years is causing a delay to the construction of a wind farm in the 
Murchison, in north-west Western Australia.

Verve Energy plans to build two wind turbines on a farm near Kalbarri to 
back up the town's irregular electricity supply from the south-west grid.

Peter Winner from Verve says the company is working with the Department of 
Environment and Conservation to protect the orchid's habitat. He says the 
start date for construction could be delayed several weeks while the 
details are finalised.

"The idea is to make sure that the areas where the orchid could grow are 
identified so that if the right conditions occur they could flower and 
bloom as they would normally do," he said   "
