Thanks to Viateur for posting the story from the Vietnam News Service about Paphiopedilum callosum:
http://vietnamnews.vnagency.com.vn/showarticle.php?num=01ENV270607 Just in case anyone missed it, and just in case anyone is still tempted to purchase any Paphiopedilum species with fake CITES documents from a Vietnamese source, let's dispel any lingering doubts and quote the following from the article: "Illegal trade poses a continuing threat to Viet Nam's increasingly rare slipper orchids, which are highly prized by collectors. Paphiopedilum callosum is one of several endangered slipper orchids listed in a Government decision that explicitly forbids trade in the species." Anyone who tells you they can export Vietnamese Paphs with legitimate CITES documents is lying. Also lying is anyone living in Japan who tells you the plants will be "legitimized" if they act as your conduit. Cheers, Peter O'Byrne Chemical Ali will swing for using chemical weapons to suppress an insurrection in Sulaymaniyah. Chemical George used chemical weapons to suppress an insurrection in Fallujah. Pass me some rope. _______________________________________________ the OrchidGuide Digest (OGD) [email protected] http://orchidguide.com/mailman/listinfo/orchids_orchidguide.com
