This has been discussed on my paph group, maybe here also (I've missed a few
digests...).....How have people been sustaining success with CHC paph mixes?
Seems like people are reporting bleaching and lack of growth with CHC potted
paphs. Whe I started with CHC, I was very impressed....now, I'm not. Most
paphs still do well, but I have found that my Maudiae types and a few others
are really not doing as well, and frequently bleaching. I repotted a bunch
into bark today...many had good roots, but they were all at the top, almost
none had good roots growing down in the mix. That said, I find that parvi's
do fine in CHC, as do the pihilipinense type multi's (not haynaldianum/lowii
pardalopetalums...)...and my epiphytes like catt's and dend's still prefer
CHC to any mix I have ever used. take care, Eric Muehlbauer (a real seasonal
winter in Queens, NY...for the first time in years!)
