Hi,

"I understand that back up  does a consistent copy of a database, all
further write operations are locked while this process continues" we almost
finished new live backup version which will freeze writes only in case of
extremely high load, otherwise you will be able to work with database as
usual also this backup is incremental so only changed data will be backed
up.

Now this feature is  on testing phase and will be available in next version.
