Hi all,

Well, it's the end of the first week of operation of the file download store
in The Origami Source, OrigamiUSA's online store. We've got 20 new products
in the store, a few more in the pending queue, and a few tens of product
purchases already made. So far, things seem to be working well.

I've been following with interest the discussion on this list of pricing
policy, about whether this or that price is too low or too high. I think
that having a range of prices initially is a good way to probe the market
elasticity, and over time, the behavior of buyers will give individual
sellers a good indication of whether their own pricing is too high or too
low relative to what their goals are with their own sales and the merits of
their products.

Of course, the more products there are in the store, the more reason buyers
will have to come shop, and the more data we'll have on what the "right"
pricing should be! So if you were considering selling some files but were
holding back to see how it went with the early adopters, I think it's safe
to say that the system is working, people are buying, sellers are getting
records of sales and what they're owed, and when the first quarter rolls
around, those who meet the minimum threshold will get paid. So come on in,
the water's great!

If we get a steady stream of new products, that raises the issue of how
buyers can find out what's new. To address this need, we've started
featuring the 5 newest products on OrigamiUSA's home page:

http://origamiusa.org/

There's also an RSS feed (see the small orange feed icon), which, if you
subscribe with your browser or feed reader, you'll get notification of every
new download product as it's posted.

Everything posted thus far has been an individual model, but I can say that
we've got our first full e-book submission in the pending queue; you should
see it appear in the store (and in the RSS feed) within a day or two.

If you've already bought a file, first of all, thanks! And second, remember,
you can post comments on any products you've bought; you'll see a link on
the product page when you're logged in.

Happy shopping! (And folding!)

Robert
