I'll be teaching a couple of kids' origami classes in nearby libraries
Does anyone know how I can possibly obtain permission to teach this model?

My two cents worth, as one who often teaches origami, and not is paid, I go
under the Fair Use line of thought. I will mention whose diagram / designer is
and as I am not handing out diagrams, I teach away.
For conventions, though, I do ask, and so far have always been graciously
granted permission.
I think if for every time we shared a fold, we had to check first, the
designers would be swamped with requests. I appreciate the willingness of
designers to allow some teaching sharing.
Of course, publishing is a whole other realm, that certainly does require
permission.
