I don't know anything about ceramic clay and origami, but have you ever worked 
with Polymer Clay? It is a "plastic clay" that you can roll out into thin 
sheets, then do simple folds with, and then you bake (or cure) it in a regular 
oven - depending on brand you cure between 230 and 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
