Chris Lott enquired: I've made some nice origami bowls and boxes using relatively thick, textured scrapbook style paper. I plan to use them as part of gifts and would like to make them more "permanent." What method(s) might work for this?
I would recommend spraying or brushing the boxes with clear lacquer, which you should be able to find at an art supply, craft, or model store. I use this occasionally to waterproof paper airplanes for flying outdoors. It won't warp the paper or discolour it, but it will give it a bit of a sheen. If you do use lacquer, put the boxes into a cardboard box to spray them, and rack dry them in a very well ventilated place. Any help? Andrew Dewar
