Yes I've had experience with gold leaf. I layer of 23K gold leaf can be
applied to the surface of the paper piece. In the case of the frog, I used
Stardream paper to fold it.  I applied shellac to the surface, let it get
dry, and then applied varnish on which the gold leaf was set.

Gold leaf is quite delicate. I've had the air in my studio full of tiny
gold particles flying about, but it makes a beautiful finish for an origami
piece!
