Just finished reading "Shadow of Night" by Deborah Harkness. Diana Bishop is a witch able to time travel. In 1590 she meets up with her father - also a time traveler - who has been dead for over 20 years in her time. When her father goes back to 1980 something he leaves Diana a note on a folded paper boat. Diana remarks to her vampire husband "Dad was always bad with swans, but he folded great boats."
Interesting story. Lots of witches, vampires and demons with a mystery, and some bodice ripping ;-) Dee
