Hello Gerardo and all, VOG is not an association (yet)
below is the introduction for VOG's 2nd book : ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- " One noticeable thing about the population of Vietnam Origami Group (VOG) is that the majority of us are very young folders of age ranging from 14 to 28. This is clearly reflected in the models we produce and the volume of our production. The wild minds are attracted to the challenge of grasping the abstract or complexity of a model, and the passionate hearts urge us to work through nights, just to feel closer to a complete dream. Just like modern Origami as a young art itself, we want to explore the limitlessness in our limits and the completeness of being so incomplete. Founded in 2004, we soon find ourselves celebrating the 10-year anniversary and in connection of such event, we introduce a continuation of our first book, "VOG 2, origami.vn". During the last ten years, VOG has nurtured a palette of talents and tastes. Monthly competitions are organized to motivate young people to design. We explore new methods of making paper and using paper, i.e. thinning of VOG paper, as well as actively discuss about the nature of art in general and Origami in particular. Besides folding, we often meet to eat out, go to the cinema, museums together. We exchange books, letters, poems, music and beautiful thoughts to each other. This second book is a mark of our maturity, as well as a demonstration of our potentials, yet to be fully discovered or expressed. Along the way, we are grateful to have received help from Michael LaFosse, David Brill and Bernie Peyton, who have been judges to some of our competitions. Your attending has encouraged many folders, and your comments have been of great value in their development. Also, we would like to thank the international Origami community, who has acknowledged and welcomed us so warmly. And last but not least, if not be for Nicolas Terry, we would never have these two physical proofs of our creativity. In the future, we would like to see ourselves as an established society, producing i.e. magazines, books, organizing conventions and galleries. Above all, we dream of a day we could call our models “art work”. We dream of a day we actually touch and reach people through sheets of paper. We dream to capture perspectives, stories, winds, sounds, rays of lights, the soulful beauty, all precious human imprints into the fragility of paper. Yes, these are a lot. But once being dreamers, why forbid ourselves to dream high? We hope that you will enjoy this book, and that you will be in touch with us while touching the pages.
