RE: On Gabriel Vong's Website: Level 1 Page 3, second row down, far right, is: Sunflower! I have just finished my third attempt and do not have a colour change for the centre. Everything else looks just as it should be but for this. HELP! :-) _Link:_ http://ori500.free.fr/diagrams/level1/de3-en.htm
Rosemary, for about a year now I've been making Meenakshi Mukerji's Gaillardia "without color change", meaning I make the model pretty much as shown, but skip the color change steps (which makes for much easier folding) and use a paper that has a distinctive color and/or pattern in the middle. I call this the Non-Color Change (NCC) Gaillardia. Looking at the diagram (very sketchy!) and seeing how similar it is to the one I've been making (which, BTW, is also very similar to Wenhau Chao's ESS) I'm guessing that is what was done to make the one in the photo on the web site you included: they probably used paper that had a different color in the middle, giving the "color change" without showing the color on the back of the paper. ----- As to who created this Sunflower, I looked thru Meenakshi's book, "Wondrous One Sheet Origami" and don't see anything quite like this. But if you like this Sunflower, you should check out this book, there are several models along these lines and lots of other really nice ones besides. ----- If you want to see the NCC Gaillardias I've been making, look thru my Folding My Universe blogs at origamichila.blogspot.com. I think I last posted pics of them a few months ago. ..... from Chila /// ------------------------------------------------------- Chilagami - I think, therefore I fold; I fold, therefore I am Folding for Fun in the Mojave Desert Southern California, USA [email protected] www.origamichila.blogspot.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
