Clare Chamberlain and Karen Reeds replied to my query about common practical model categories.
Claire mentioned a traditional seed/medicine package and Karen mentioned small packets. Thank you both, I added to the list "Packets and tatos". Claire, can you show me that traditional packet? I'm interested : ) Karen also mentioned napkin rings. I've decided to add it to the list since it does seem to be a common category in practical origami. But I need your help: napkin rings aren't part of my life, so what is their main purpose in modern society? Keeping napkins organized when stored, decorating napkins for the dinner table, something else...? Karen also mentioned a *Booklet* which includes cutting in the folding process. Can you please show me the model? I don't know it. And regarding my follow up question Karen answered that she did use the newspaper hat and she did it to keep off the sun. Karen, from your description it seems not to be that common nowadays (old folks remembering it fondly and kids being amazed and delighted with it). Is that a correct assumption? Thank you both for your help. Everyone is welcome to share other common practical origami categories : ) Gerardo gerardo(a)neorigami.com
