I asked a series of questions regarding what is a tato. I received answers
from Michila Caldera, Dianne, and an off-list answer.

Dianne claimed that the article I cited by David Lister answered some of my
own questions. This is the article:
http://www.britishorigami.info/academic/lister/tato_folds.php
I didn't see how to answer my own questions from the information in that
article. Can you please help me find the information I need in the article?
I did read it completely and more than once : )

Dianne also mentioned the name kamon-ori. You'll find some examples of that
almost at the bottom of this page:
http://www.dnp.co.jp/artscape/eng/focus/1311_01.html
I read a bit about that there and also here:
http://origami.ousaan.com/library/historye.html
According to the second page, Kamon-ori means flower-pattern-folding in
English. It's very similar to tato but with a pinwheel-like style and,
unlike tato, they are referred as being purely aesthetic instead of being
containers.

Chila, asked what do Japanese consider as tato, thinking that maybe for
them any flat origami container is a tato. Is there a fellow member here in
the list who is Japanese or knows the answer to Chila's question?

Continuing with the converstion, when you look for "origami tato" in Google
Images you'll find different identifying similarities between the models:
https://www.google.com/search?q=tato&biw=1024&bih=470&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMIr5q_3-PExwIVyRseCh39UgoR#tbm=isch&q=origami+tato
That was what motivated me to make the five questions I made in my last
message, they have to do with characteristics I think many tato share
although there are some exceptions. Yet, when I looked for a definition,
they don't mention any of those characteristics. They just declare
something in the lines of decorative flat origami pouch, box, envelope,
wallet, purse, etc.

In concrete, I believe there's something in tato that makes us able to tell
most of them apart from other models, but we haven't put that "something"
in words. Next time, I'll show you some specific models which I'm confused
if they are tatos or not.
