Hi Laura, one of my favorite (simple & smart) models to fold and teach is the
Trumpeting Elephant by Shigemasa Hoshino. I have taught this to adult folding
beginners —- maybe 15 ppl at one time & in-person —- and everyone was
successful — and it’s a real crowd pleaser. I also don’t always say what it is
that we are folding so ppl can guess thru the process, and with this model —-
after the precreases are folded & collapsed —- it becomes quite apparent. But
then the trumpeting (action model aspect) is still not known —- so that’s a fun
reveal at the end. And if you can mimic a trumpeting elephant sound when you
first show the action model at work, you’ll get a big chuckle —- even from
adults!!!

Happy folding,
Vishakha

I’m looking for a model that is simple and smart. Simple because it will be
explained to a group of adults who have no knowledge of paperfolding. And smart
because, well, they think they’re smart (and they’re my old university
classmates!) We’ll be having a meeting in a couple of months, so I’ve got to be
prepared!

Your suggestions will be much appreciated!
