At a second look, it seems to me that the examples mentioned in the SDK_manual are not contained in the libsynthesis git so far. The author of the examples and the SDK manual is Beat Forster, but he's in vacation until end of this week. He'll be able to help next week when he's back in the office.

I also think that client_engine_linux.mk is not a makefile for a sample, but for the engine itself (an alternate way to built it without autotools, and with SQLite3 compiled in - sqlite.c is the so- called amalgamation of sqlite3, a all-in-one source file containing the complete SQLite implementation).

The samples should not need sqlite3 at all.

As said, a good point of reference (because it's a real app, not just a sample) is SyncEvolution.
