Summary: problem with modules

Initial Comment:
Upon connecting (via ssh) to the machine:

/opt/modules/3.1.6/bin/modulecmd: error while loading
shared libraries: libtcl.so.0: cannot open shared object
file: No such file or directory

I've seen this a couple times... now it's happening on
SuSE. SuSE 8.1 has /usr/lib/libtcl8.4.so.

I needed Env-Switcher/modules outside of OSCAR today so I
spent time
getting this to work on RH9.0. I have the necessary mods to
the spec and new RPM.

However, this doesn't speak to the actual problem related to
TCL, simply the issues for rpmbuild-ness on RH9.0.

If you'd like Jeff, I can commit this RPM/SRPM or just let
you if you're going to make further mods for TCL-ness fixups.

That gets problematic because then you need some kind of
logic to figure out what the "right" libtcl*so is to sym
link to. It may be different on different machines. And it
may also burn us in the future if you install on a machine
where libtcl100.1000.so is the default, and sym linking that
to libtcl.so *won't* work.

Also, who should make this sym link? The modules RPM? That
doesn't seem right, because the modules RPM doesn't "own"
the TCL shared libraries.

A simple solution would be to create a symlink (it works).

This RPM probably simply needs to be rebuilt.

Can you provide a list of all the distro's that you've run
into this on?
