Category: Packages Group: 2.3 >Status: Closed >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 8 Submitted By: Jason Brechin (brechin) Assigned to: Jeff Squyres (jsquyres) Summary: problem with modules Initial Comment: Upon connecting (via ssh) to the machine: /opt/modules/3.1.6/bin/modulecmd: error while loading shared libraries: libtcl.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I've seen this a couple times... now it's happening on SuSE. SuSE 8.1 has /usr/lib/libtcl8.4.so. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Jeff Squyres (jsquyres) Date: 2003-07-17 15:45 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=11722 Thanks to Tom's new specfile and some additional logic to select which modules-oscar RPM to install during the switcher setup API script, this appears to be fixed in CVS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Thomas Naughton (naughtont) Date: 2003-07-17 00:03 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=288102 Since, i've not really tested them inside OSCAR or from anything other than RH9.0 I'm not checking them in, but they're available here: <a href="http://www.csm.ornl.gov/~naughton/oscar/RPMS/modules-oscar-3.1.6-3.i586.rpm">http://www.csm.ornl.gov/~naughton/oscar/RPMS/modules-oscar-3.1.6-3.i586.rpm</a> and <a href="http://www.csm.ornl.gov/~naughton/oscar/SRPMS/modules-oscar-3.1.6-3.src.rpm">http://www.csm.ornl.gov/~naughton/oscar/SRPMS/modules-oscar-3.1.6-3.src.rpm</a> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Thomas Naughton (naughtont) Date: 2003-07-16 21:22 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=288102 I needed Env-Switcher/modules outside of OSCAR today so I spent time getting this to work on RH9.0. I have the necessary mods to the spec and new RPM. However, this doesn't speak to the actual problem related to TCL, simply the issues for rpmbuild-ness on RH9.0. If you'd like Jeff, I can commit this RPM/SRPM or just let you if you're going to make further mods for TCL-ness fixups. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jeff Squyres (jsquyres) Date: 2003-07-16 12:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=11722 That gets problematic because then you need some kind of logic to figure out what the "right" libtcl*so is to sym link to. It may be different on different machines. And it may also burn us in the future if you install on a machine where libtcl100.1000.so is the default, and sym linking that to libtcl.so *won't* work. Also, who should make this sym link? The modules RPM? That doesn't seem right, because the modules RPM doesn't "own" the TCL shared libraries. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jason Brechin (brechin) Date: 2003-07-16 12:44 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=274641 A simple solution would be to create a symlink (it works). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jeff Squyres (jsquyres) Date: 2003-07-16 12:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=11722 This RPM probably simply needs to be rebuilt. Can you provide a list of all the distro's that you've run into this on? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=109368&aid=772434&group_id=9368 ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: VM Ware With VMware you can run multiple operating systems on a single machine.
