Hi Mike,

I think you forgot to run vmware-config-tools.pl

That will build some modules and load them. Also you need to have the
vmware-tools service enabled and started.

I had some bad experience with vmware-tools under suse where I ended up with
corrupted virtual disk, but under fc5 it works fine.
